The Automobile Association of Bangladesh (AAB) has officially launched Bangladesh’s first-ever Motorsport Academy — a groundbreaking initiative aimed at building a professional motorsport career pathway for aspiring talents in the country. This marks a historic milestone for the nation’s motorsport community.
The AAB Motorsport Academy offers a structured three-level course program: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each level is designed to progressively develop a participant’s skills and knowledge in motorsport. Upon successful completion:
-
Beginner graduates are eligible to apply for a National Grassroot Licence.
-
Intermediate graduates can apply for a National Race Licence.
-
Advanced course graduates will be eligible for an International Race Licence.
The Academy officially kicked off with its first batch attending the Beginner Level training on April 25, 2025. The sessions were hosted at AAB’s headquarters at 3B Outer Circular Road, Moghbazar, Dhaka, with the training spanning two intensive days.
Leading the training was Fahad Gaffoor, an internationally experienced competition manager who previously worked with ex-Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong. Assisting him was Rahul Chakraborty, Bangladesh’s fastest sim racer. Both Fahad and Rahul proudly represented Bangladesh in the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games in the E-sports categories, successfully taking the country into the semi-finals of their respective disciplines.
The Beginner Level training is crafted especially for motorsport enthusiasts who dream of carving out a career in the sport. It blends theoretical sessions with hands-on practical training on professional racing simulators, giving participants a real taste of motorsport fundamentals. The program concluded with an assessment exam to evaluate the participants’ grasp of the course material.
The launch of the Motorsport Academy not only signals a new era for motorsport development in Bangladesh but also provides a structured and recognized platform for young talents to pursue their dreams on both national and international stages.
