The world haven’t seen much from Mercedes in the league of hypercars until today, at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Stuttgart giant unveiled the Project One. If I say it in one sentence, The Mercedes-AMG Project One is a road legal F1 car. After dominating the Formula 1 arena for more than three consecutive years, the silver arrow engineers decided to bolt in their F1 winning formula to road legal hyper car.
The Project One suited with a stunning exterior featuring F1 styled air intake and shark fin, GullWing look alike doors. However the car has resemblance with 90’s McLaren F1 that set the standard for supercars.
At the power department it has got, turbo charged 1.6L V6 heart that will scream upto 11000 rpm, paired with four electric motors that takes the output figure to more than 1,000 bhp, and top speed is ‘beyond 350 km/h. Mercedes-AMG claims the hypercar will do zero to 200 km/h in under six seconds. Furthermore, Mercedes-AMG states that it responds faster than a naturally aspirated V8 engine.
“Motorsport is not an end in itself for us”, says Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.
“Faced with intense competition, we develop technologies from which our production vehicles also subsequently benefit. We are drawing on our experiences and successes from three constructors’ and drivers’ world championships to bring Formula 1 technology to the road for the first time: in Mercedes-AMG Project ONE.”
