Swedish automaker Volvo lately collaborated with Google to build up its next-generation infotainment but Audi isn’t sitting inactive. Audi is also joining the fun with Google to create a new Android-based infotainment system for its future models. Since it is an Android operating system, it’s an Android Open Source project modified by Audi in order so that it can run seamlessly. This means that they can be benefited from the Android app ecosystem and realistically adapt to the look and feel of android. The Q8 Sport concept, in which the Android System was showcased, was launched at the Geneva Motor Show this year. The company also revealed the program at the Google I/O conference. Audi believes that the developers will have the capacity to accelerate future car accessibility, innovation, and in-car apps.
Earlier this year Audi launched the Q8 Sport Concept with an Android Information system in, which they include features like Google Play Music, Google Assistant and Google map built-in. Audi believes that running an information system on Android will help make its functionality easier and update it to be developed for the automotive version. This information system will be displayed both on the cockpit and on the MMI touchscreen display in the driver’s direct field of view.
It goes without saying that Audi is excited to use Android as it offers incredible potential because thousands of developers are already familiar with the platform. Audi also claims that the customers will be able to enjoy the benefit of Android by using a myriad of Smartphone apps in their cars.
