Dear readers, Lamborghini has stolen the crown for the fastest production car to ever lap the Nurburgring from Porsche 918 Spyder. Lamborghini Factory Driver Marco Mapelli was behind the steering of the Huracan Performante, he lapped the ‘Ring in 6m 52.01s, which is a new production car lap record of the Nordschleife. The time is more than seven seconds faster than Lamborghini’s V12 flagship Aventador SV, which set a time of 6:59.73 back in May of 2015.
Huracan Performante’s active aero, lower weight, and dual-clutch transmission may have played the key role in the lap record shattering time. The Huracan Performante is set to be unveiled in the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
