The spectrum of cars in the car scenario of Bangladesh is mostly limited to family sedans due to the import laws restricting many unique JDM cars here. Even though it doesn’t stop the car scenario to grow here. The car culture and the meets here aren’t as huge or sponsored as of the meets like ‘WEKFEST,H20I’.
The most prominent of the meets that frequently take place are in every other Thursday night where car guys from all age groups gather around with their cars. And roam around the city after midnight with their performance end tyre burning tuned rides. This Thursday night culture did not come into existence overnight, it took time to take the shape which it is in now. Even 3 or 4 years back people would not have come out like this not even the car guys, but now Thursday night has become somewhat of a meet of car guys in one place. Thursday Night meetups usually take place in a parking lot of restaurants in Dhaka. The scene is packed with JDM cars specially TOYOTA’s. Although other variants like HONDA, MITSUBISHI & MAZDA are visible.
Thursday night have shown a great difference in the car scene within the past few years, and the trend of cars has changed too. Even couple of years back the streets were full of stock Toyota’s with NA engines or sport end engines like 4A GE which by far one of the best creation from TOYOTA not by my opinion only as well as the voice of people notions is on that. Well that’s changing now its as more of fuss fuss coming out of 1jz’s or 4G63T’s B16’s 3S GTE’s 4E FTE’s as the recent turbo culture is hitting the streets hard. Car enthusiast are inclining more into turbo’s and superchargers because of its instant BOOST after reaching certain engine speed.
I myself am a turbo fan because of its instant rush of adrenaline in the system. However the present car scene could have improved a lot more if there were abundance of performance parts which is scarce here and very expensive to obtain. There has been some unwanted accidents at these nights while everyone is rolling around as many teenagers who join in do not have the proper driving skills to control cars with High Horsepower and they end up endangering their life as well as others. Besides this fact ” Thursday night” culture that has grown over the years and became a car meet and a meeting or get together of car guys in one place which is really cool. It’s a great way through which the car scene in Bangladesh is getting further improved as more and more new projects cars are being seen. Its also exciting to see new cars and different projects coming into shape. The rumbles of these unique cars makes car guys like us feel at home after a whole week of tiresome work, study and stress of everyday life. It feels like a relaxation, a pill of happiness and adrenaline rush.
